MARIANNE:
Beaver leader. Smallholder. Lover of history, folklore and discovering hidden ruins in the forest!
My family and I made Eryri our home 9 years ago when we escaped the city and went searching for our next adventure. We live on a smallholding in a tiny hamlet nestled high above the Conwy Valley, surrounded by chickens, ducks and sheep. I divide my time between running our smallholding and holiday let, learning Welsh, leading the local Beaver group, guiding tours at a nearby heritage property and leading walks for the Trefriw Walking Festival.
I find this glorious part of the world endlessly fascinating; the history, the stories, the landscape and its communities are a source of constant surprise and joy. There is always something new to discover. Maria and I cannot wait to share our love of Eryri with you.
MARIA:
Tree hugger and tea lover. My besty is my dog.
I grew up in Germany and Canada before moving to the UK. Like Marianne I’m lucky to call the mountains of Eryri my home. We first met years ago in a local Welsh class, and what started as lessons in language quickly grew into a shared passion for exploring this extraordinary landscape. Since then, we’ve spent countless days wandering its paths. We are always discovering something new, and never lose that sense of awe.
When I’m not out on the trails (usually with my dog Morris by my side), I run my own tea business, Eryri Tea Merchant. Tea, for me, is another way of connecting with nature, and on our walks I hope to share some delicious tea with you as we explore.
